I was born in Ohio in 1986. I wrote my first story at the age of four (it was about Peter Pan and dinosaurs) and haven’t stopped since.
I have two creative writing degrees (BFA Creative Writing and MA Screenwriting). My fiction has appeared in The White Review, Wasafiri, Cunning Folk, Elemental Fractions: Earth, and many more. My short film The Director was nominated for Best Screenwriting at Underwire Film Festival, and my feature film script Time Apart was shortlisted for the Netflix/Creative UK Breakout scheme.
To support my writing (as well as to inspire it) I have worked around the world as an English teacher, youth hostel manager, film extra, bookseller, social media expert, tarot reader, and editor & proofreader.
I moved to the UK in 2010 and became a British citizen in 2018. I live in Ealing, West London with my husband and my dog.
I began A Space to Write in 2023 with the aim of connecting with other writers and sharing everything I have learned (and continue to learn) over the course of my own creative writing career.
We currently have a thriving community on Meetup where we host regular free 90-minute writing sessions on Zoom.
We also share quickfire writing tips & tricks on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, with longer format educational videos on YouTube as well.
